Cassius ("Kaz") Flores has his family's hereditary ability to manipulate fire and heat. Because of this, he is to one day become head of the family and manage their business and strong sociopolitical influence. His father Ellison, on a bit of a power trip, is in the midst of making quite a controversial name for the family and Kaz isn't so sure if he wants to inherit this sort of responsibility.
His family has always valued tradition, order, and keeping things the way they've always been, regardless of if it conflicts with changing times. Their more conservative views have always clashed with his, but now more than ever.
